Welcome!
Introduction
Since its founding in 1991, the AIDS Assistance Program of Palm Springs remains dedicated to providing comfort and support to improve the quality of the lives of those surviving HIV/AIDS. Initiated by a small group of concerned citizens, led by the late Gloria Greene and Jeannette Rockefeller, AAP provided meals to members of the community with low incomes and suffering with HIV/AIDS. Since then, the AIDS Assistance Program's client roster has grown from approximately 20 to more than 500 people.
The AIDS Assistance Program is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors whose primary purpose is to raise the funds needed for the organization and its food voucher program. This year's budgeted food voucher expense is expected to exceed $650,000.
100% of the organization's operational expenses are generated through a growing private donor base, local business support and grant funding. AAP receives no federal or state funding.
Two full-time employees manage the organization from a small office in Palm Springs. All the AAP’s support personnel are drawn from a pool of a few but dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers.
Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Voucher Distributions are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Tuesday’s of each month from 9:30 AM until 12 Noon. Clients have until Noon the following Wednesday to request mail outs.
All scheduled events will be posted on this web site and notifications will be distributed to the client base and/or the donor base as applicable. |
