AAP – FOOD SAMARITANS TO COMMENCE 2018-2019 SEASON WITH JEANNETTE ROCKEFELLER ANGEL PROGRAM KICKOFF CELEBRATION

PALM SPRINGS – September 20, 2018: AAP – Food Samaritans (AAP) will begin its 2018-2019 season with the annual Jeannette Rockefeller Angel Program Kickoff Celebration on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 5 p.m. at a private estate in Palm Springs (address provided upon RSVP). The event is the main fundraising drive for AAP and enables the organization to provide monthly food vouchers for its low-income clients who are living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. There is no admission fee to attend, but attendance to the event implies an intention to participate in the Angel Program. An RSVP is required by October 5. Call 760-325-8481 or go to aapfoodsamaritans.org for more information on the program.

This year’s kickoff will be an intimate cocktail party, with an announcement that will reveal the entertainment for AAP’s 26th Annual Evening Under the Stars gala, coming up May 4, 2019. On display will be a seating chart for the gala, and those Angels who renew may select their seats from those available before anyone else.

Named in honor of philanthropist and activist Jeannette Rockefeller who helped establish the organization, the Angel Program provides the necessary funds for AAP – Food Samaritans to sustain its nutritional support program. When supporters join the Angel program, they receive a wide range of benefits depending on the level of support. Top donors receive tickets to Evening Under the Stars, recognition at the event, and a special annual Appreciation Dinner just for Angels. Individuals or couples may pledge annual contributions starting at $500 per year with flexible payment plans.

“Public support has become ever more important as we receive no Federal or State funds and we rely primarily on our friends in the community – especially our Angels – to provide the sustaining support for our mission.” said Mark Anton, CEO/Executive Director of AAP – Food Samaritans. “We are proud that we are still a grassroots organization that has a paid staff of only two and are housed in modest, no frills offices, thus enabling us to give as much as possible directly back to our clients.”

Since its inception, AAP has distributed more than $10 million in direct client service to more than 2,300 clients. AAP’s clients get by on an annual income of less than $18,090.
