Awesome Online Auction to Raise Funds for AAP – Food Samaritans

Week-long Auction to take place June 1 through 7

PALM SPRINGS – May 20, 2020:  The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many events around the world to be cancelled or postponed. Among the most prominent events in the Coachella Valley to be affected was AAP – Food Samaritans’ Evening Under the Stars. It was scheduled for Saturday, May 2 but because of the rapidly changing situation regarding the coronavirus, large gatherings like this have been banned. AAP – Food Samaritans (AAP) is putting together a special on-line auction to raise much needed funds to help them through this challenging time. The on-line auction will take place June 1 through 7.

AAP provides nutritional support for low-income people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses in the Coachella Valley.

Executive Director/C.E.O. Mark Anton had this to say about the situation: “These are perilous times, not just for charities and the fundraisers they rely upon, but for everyone. Now, more than ever, we need the support of the community to help us continue to provide these crucially important food vouchers to our Coachella Valley clients – low-income people living with chronic illnesses – who are struggling to survive these uncertain times. The risk of exposure to the coronavirus is even more dangerous for our clients who are living with chronic illnesses. So, we have begun sending our Stater Bros. food vouchers via certified mail. Of course this means additional expense for each client we serve, but we are committed to doing this for as long as necessary to help ensure that everyone is safe.”

The Auction will be open for preview beginning on Wednesday, May 20. Bidding will open on Monday, June 1 at 12:15 AM PDT and will close on Sunday, June 7 at 5 PM PDT. Bidders will be required to register on the secure site which will facilitate payment and provide an option for bidder notifications via text or email. Registered users may then bid on unique auction items, make donations in any amount, or participate in AAP’s ‘Jeannette Rockefeller Angel Program’.

The auction will offer an incredible assortment of auction items such as fine artwork consignments, restaurant and hotel packages, unique excursions, and the items highlighted below.  A fine selection of Baccarat crystal will also be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds being donated to AAP.

AAP is pleased to partner with the Artists Council and its artist members to offer a professionally curated collection of Fine Art consignments for inclusion in this auction.
The Artist Council sent a “call for submissions” to more than 300 local artists and 40 artworks were hand-selected and professionally curated by Katherine Hough, the former Chief Curator of the Palm Springs Art Museum for this event.
