December 2018
As we end the year, it is a time to look back on what we have accomplished and remember the significant contributions of those who have helped us here at AAP - Food Samaritans continue our mission of providing nutritional support for the people who need it the most.
Recently, several people and organizations have produced fundraisers to support our mission, and I'd like to take a moment here to acknowledge their generosity and hard work.
On November 3, Peter Demopoulos and Celebrity Doodles produced ENCORE: A CELEBRATION OF AMERICAN IDOLS, a fundraiser for AAP. Attendees experienced three incredible American Idol finalists and celebrated Palm Springs Pride with a fantastic evening of fun, festive music, and dance. Many thanks to Peter and his team for organizing this fun event.
On November 5, Long-time AAP supporter and AAP Board President, Tony Marchese of TRIO Restaurant presented a significant contribution to AAP in honor of TRIO’s ninth anniversary. This donation will feed ten of our clients for the month of December! Party goers were generously treated with food and spirits and entertained by Disco Diva Pamala Stanley, known world-wide for her hits 'Coming Out of Hiding' and 'This is Hot.' Thank you, Tony, for all you do for our organization.
On November 16 thanks to the generosity of The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, we were able to provide a fresh turkey to all AAP Clients who wanted one. The Tribe has been donating Holiday turkeys to our clients for many years. Special thanks goes to Betty Callies, Executive Director of Tribal Administration, for helping to arrange this, making our clients' Thanksgiving that much brighter!
During Thanksgiving weekend, the Desert Tennis Association continued its long-time support of AAP by donating the proceeds from the 25th Annual Palm Springs Open to AAP. This is the 12th consecutive year that Desert Tennis Association has supported AAP. Many thanks to Tournament Director Nabil Najjar for his continuing support.
As a part of the Palm Springs Open, Jason Brotman of Five Senses Reeling Events designated AAP as the benefiting charity for the hilarious "Blame it On Bianca" show featuring Bianca del Rio. We were honored to be a part of this production.
Please remember to save the date for our other upcoming events, Hollywood's Biggest Night in February and our signature event, Evening Under the Stars in May. Dates for all are listed at the bottom of this newsletter.
If you know of someone that would benefit from our nutritional support program, please refer them to us at 760-325-8481.
As always, thank you for all you do to support AAP – Food Samaritans.
Sincerely,
Mark Anton, Executive Director
