February 2021
This new year is off to a good start with a slow trickle of vaccines beginning to be distributed in Riverside county, combined with projections that our hospitals may soon be under a little less stress, so I am optimistic and hopeful.
It's disappointing that things aren't better because beside the fact that people are still getting sick, the current restrictions mean that we won't be able to hold one of our most successful fundraising events of the year, Hollywood's Biggest Night hosted by TRIO Restaurant. The Oscars will look different this year, as does just about everything, but we will look forward to next year's Oscars.
One thing we are planning is to hold our annual Independence Day Celebration at the O'Donnell House on July 4. The City of Palm Springs hasn't decided if they will have a fireworks display or not, but either way, we know that it'll be a glorious evening on the garden terrace of the O'Donnell House, and that people will be more than ready for a little fun. When we are certain that we may move forward with this, tickets will go on sale.
As of this writing, it's looking less likely that we'll be able to have Evening Under the Stars on May first, and we are considering October instead. Please stay tuned!
I'd like to send my warmest thanks to our amazing volunteers who are helping us mail food vouchers to our clients every month without fail. Sending them via US Mail is keeping our clients safe as we weather this pandemic. THANK YOU!
Lastly some good news: I'm pleased to report that we were awarded a grant of $10K from the Inland Empire Community Foundation! This helps us meet our monthly expense for food vouchers for our clients, but we have such a long way to go every month. Please help if you can. Join the Angel Program (see below) or make a one-time contribution. We can't do this without you!
Thank you for your continuing support.
Sincerely,
Mark Anton
