sandy reed smallThe world has lost a sweet soul.

It is with a heavy heart that I am informing you that recently we lost a good friend. Sanford (Sandy) Reed, 25, was killed in a tragic accident a few weeks ago. You may remember Sandy as the bright and charismatic Co-Master of Ceremonies at Evening Under the Stars two years ago. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Sandy for many years and I can tell you that there has never been a more vivacious, gentle, outgoing, and sweet soul. Our hearts ache for his mother, Catharine Reed, his sister Katie Reed, and his grandmother Sherrie Auen.

Sandy was beloved not only in our community but by everyone he met. At 25 he had accomplished a great deal and was poised for much more. At his beautiful memorial service, many of the speakers shared intimate glimpses into Sandy’s personality and his unwavering commitment to his friends and loved ones. He was a caring friend, generous of spirit, and he ensured that the people he loved knew how much he loved them. We could all learn from his example.

Sandy had a passion for acting and started his career at age six at the McCallum Theatre summer program. He brilliantly performed in supporting and leading roles while in high school, and was the lead in a Los Angeles production of Peter Pan. He graduated with a double major from the prestigious School of Dramatic Arts and School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. He had been signed by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and during the memorial service we were able to watch him perform in a funny new national commercial that will be airing soon.

What we will miss most about Sandy was his zest for life. He was an energetic and gracious man, and everyone who knew him was swept away by his love of life and his pure and sweet soul.

Sincerely,
Mark Anton
